Carolyn C. Vail, 78, of Eden, New York died Friday, March 2, 2012 in Mercy Hospital. She was born August 25, 1933 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Chester W. and Cecilia (Schwab) Herzog. Carolyn married her loving husband, Howard J. Vail, of 52 years on October 10, 1959. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Eden; where she served as a past custodian, sat on the Parish Council Board as a Past Secretary, and was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Eden Senior Citizens, the Eden Home Bureau. She had a love of flowers that extended into her work as she spent 17 years working for Zittel's as a greenhouse keeper. She was an avid craftswomen spending time on ceramics and crochet.. She also had a special love for her grandchildren. Besides her husband, surviving are her children; Ruth (David) Rowe, Grace (Allen) Janiga and Robert (Shari) Vail, her grandchildren; Angelene (George) Fotiadis, Jessica (Nick Gasporvich) Rowe, Nathaniel (Valerie) Rowe, Timothy Rowe, Brian Janiga, Melanie Janiga, Arek Janiga, Gabriel Vail and Eden Vail. Preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Herzog and a sister, Mary Ann Herzog Family invites friends to call Monday, March 5, 2012 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at the Laing Funeral Home Inc 2724 W. Church St. Eden, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Eden, NY. Words of sympathy on www.LaingFuneralHome.com
