Obituary of Joan M. Popple
Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan M. Popple was born in Buffalo, NY on January 13, 1928 and passed away at Mercy Hospital on August 10, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Joan's 84 years included over 25 years with her husband and partner, Bill, whom together they created nine beautiful children together. Throughout her years, she created an environment of self-strength and endurance. As a young widow, she never provided the opportunity to let that affect the family. She was a strong woman who created a warm, loving & supportive home. As you look back on her years, you know that she was a wonderful cook who created memories in her homemade meals, pies and jams many from a home garden, a seamstress who created lifelong heirlooms (quilts & afghans) along with laughter & love in her words. Her efforts with her kids included a Leader for 4-H and supporting all the activities her kids participated in such as Boy Scouts, Corn Poppers and sporting activities. Outside her home, you would find her personally active in the Lawtons, Hamburg & Erie County Pomona Grange. She was a very spiritual women and a long time member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She truly enjoyed a good game of cards (Bridge & SCAT), BINGO or heading to the penny/nickel slot machines. It was not unusual to find her watching NCIS with whom her granddaughter would compare notes with her about the happenings.
Joan was blessed with not only nine children but also many son/daughter in-laws whom she loved as her own children. To feel a hug from Joan brought a warm feeling around you. What a great sense of accomplishment and compliment when a grandchild looks forward to seeing her. For her love to transcend to the next generation is something not easily accomplished but for her an easy feat.
We are so glad to know that as we celebrate her life, we are able to look at ourselves and see how she has left her footprint in our hearts. If you shared time with her, you will have your own story to share & a time to remember. People come in our life for a reason, season or a lifetime. Joan is an individual who stays for a lifetime through the words, actions and love.
Joan was the loving wife of late William L. Popple.
The mother of William (Linda), Donald (Julie), Richard (Barbara), Karen (Joseph) Dauenhauer, David, John (Debra), Susan (John) Ananiadis, Steven (Elizabeth) and Joan (David) May.
