Obituary of Muriel E. Yager

Muriel Elizabeth Yager of Eden, New York died on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Elderwood at Hamburg surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 28, 1918 in Waterport, New York; the daughter of the late Fred W. and Ardella B. (Bleekman) Hand. Muriel and her late husband Kenneth F. were the loving parents of seven children; the late Joanne, Bob, Duane, Lynn, Audrey, Debby, and Cindy; grandparents of 17, great grandparents of 23 and great-great grandparents of 15. They made their home in the Town of Eden. Muriel was a member of Home Bureau and attended regularly the First Baptist Church of Eden with her husband and children. She was married for 47 years to the late Kenneth Yager who was the owner of Ken’s Dairy in Eden where he ran the restaurant, processed milk and delivered it to the Eden schools, stores and residents of Eden and the surrounding area. Muriel worked at the restaurant occasionally but was more at ease at home in the kitchen where she would be cooking, canning or baking something delicious. Her husband would say Muriel could accommodate from five to twenty-five at every meal with equal ease and always seemed to have enough to go around. Outside the immediate family and friends Muriel also maintained a loving lifelong friendship with two childhood classmates, Clara Madigan and Edna Gamball. She will be remembered as the center of the Yager family; a devoted wife, loving mother and matriarch to the many children. The family invites friends to call at the Laing Funeral Home at 2724 W. Church St., Eden on Friday, May 20th 2-4 and 6-8. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 10 a.m. at Laing Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Eden.
