Obituary of Harold Edward Schreiner

Harold E. Schreiner 88 of Eden, New York (Clarksburg) died in his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. He was born June 20, 1922, the son of Joseph and Mable (Gehl) Schreiner. Mr. Schreiner married his loving wife, Lillian A. (Wittmeyer) on October 12, 1946. Mr. Schreiner served in WWII in the Army Air Corp and was a member of the A.S.T.P. Division. He was a longtime member and past president of the East Eden Volunteer Fire Company. He worked for Forbush Lumber Company in Hamburg, NY as a Bookkeeper for nearly 50 years. Mr. Schreiner was also the treasurer of the Eden Senior Citizens Center for 14 years and was a member of the Hamburg Legion Post # 527. He enjoyed his family, working in his garden, square dancing, playing with his grandchildren and repairing things that were broken. He loved to ask questions and discover how anything and everything worked. Besides his loving wife, Lillian, he is survived by his children; Linda (William) DeBuhr, Sharon (Robert) Reed, Ronald (Gloria) Schreiner, William (Karen) Schreiner, Thomas (Brenda) Schreiner, and Lori (Curtis) Neureuter. Also surviving are his brother, Lloyd (Marguerite) Schreiner, sister-in-law; Marge Schreiner, 24 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his brothers; Phillip (Matilda) and Charles Schreiner.
The family invites friends to call at the Laing Funeral Home Inc 2724 W. Church St., Eden NY on Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM and Friday, September 3, 2010 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Saturday, September 4, 2010 from the Epiphany Of Our Lord Church, Langford.
Burial will take place at St. Martin's Cemetery, North Collins
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Harold's name to Autism Speaks, C/O Carole Wiles 2928 East Pleasant Ave., Eden, NY 14057
