Just found out today, June 6, that my cousin Steve passed away in December. So sorry to hear this as he was a cousin with a great sense or humor.

We are so sad to hear of the passing of Steve. We have many fond memories of Sue and Steve. They loved their family, and shared a deep love of each other in their time together. Certainly too short. One consolation is Sue and Steve are together again. Arminda, know how much you are loved along with your children and grandchildren. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love Bob and Karen Burdick

We truly will miss Steve on his float at the end of his dock on those hot summer days. We loved watching him sail, always waiting for his safe return. He was a great friend and neighbor

Our families go back to our grandparents; everyone getting together at Keuka Lake. After Steve's parents passed, he and Sue spent a good deal of their time at the cottage where they were wonderful, thoughtful, patient and fun neighbors. Steve continued to be after Sue passed and we all looked forward to seeing him pull in for the weekend or whatever. We are now down south and don't get to Keuka that often but our family does and still look after him when he sails off, looking for that sail and his safe return. A fond memory I have is Steve tied up to his dock, laying on his large float just enjoying the whole experience of the lake. That's what I'll see next time I visit, I'm sure. He probably wasn't that aware of how close we all felt to him,but I hope he realizes how he'll be missed.

My family and I were very saddened to learn of Steve’s untimely death. We share many fond memories of our times with Steve, as well as with Steve and Sue, both at Keuka Lake and in Hamburg. I was married to Steve’s brother, Christopher, who died in 1989. Steve was Uncle Steve to my children, Charles Cameron Light (37) and Kacey Anne Light (32), and we all have memories of sailing with Steve on Keuka Lake. As a matter of fact, our Christmas tree is adorned by a sailboat ornament given to us by Steve to commemorate our mutual love of sailing. Although Steve did not know them, he was Great Uncle to Molly Light (7), Nora Light (3), and Delia Light Neil (4 months). Steve was a good man. Though we had not remained close to him in recent years, we are sad to think that the Light Family is diminished with his loss. We send Arminda and all her family our sincere condolences.
Sincerely, Kathy Light Hulin

I first knew Steve when we were in fifth grade at Union Street, and based upon that experience and popularity which he engendered, I can think of one word that sums him up: "Exceptional." He was really good at everything: academics, PE stuff, music, and being admired. As to "being admired," all throughout our Hamburg School years there was no one who enjoyed more esteem than Steve. He had a marvelous sense of humor and there was no greater class experience (at least for this writer) than getting Steve to laugh. He was always organized, and even in an era of "edgy fashions" appearing in school, he was always impeccably dressed and notably handsome. I don't recall that Steve was anything but sure of himself, but it was a confidence which was an aura that would never exclude anyone. He cared nothing about adolescent popularity, and because of that - taken with his other qualities - Steve was enormously popular. Pardon the redundancies: as one can read and safely assume, I thought him mighty special. Good-bye, my friend.

My name is Richard Hall. Steve and I were close friends in high school, (Hamburg High). We shared friendship with our other close friends Bradly Fussell, Matt Cullen, Wally Kostrowski and others.I remember going to his "house in the woods" before going out to party in the summer after college. We would have a few drinks and listen to music. Steve always had the best stereo equipment and sound system. We always departed listening to "Stairway to Haven".
Steve was in my wedding party in 1972 He was always a loyal friend and true gentleman. Although we had not seen each other in years it was always a joy to be back together. I will miss ya buddy!!!!
God Bless
