Obituary of Joseph J. Ermi

Joseph Ermi, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Sunday, January 3rd, 2021, in Frederick, MD, from complications due to COVID-19 at the age of 85. Born September 4th, 1935, in Aliquippa, PA, he was the youngest of five children. Shortly after graduating high school, he moved to Buffalo, NY. He was chosen to take an apprenticeship as an electrician at the Ford Motor Company, where he worked loyally until his retirement as a highly accomplished supervisor in 1995. He married his wife Fay in 1961, and with her raised four boys in Eden, NY. Joe enjoyed coaching his sons in many sports, especially Little League baseball, where he was known as a beloved coach. He was an avid bowler, an excellent poker player, and an enthusiastic sailor; he was also a talented artist, drawing pencil sketches of his grandchildren in his later years. Spending time with his family, whether in the family sailboat on Lake Erie or at the beach on vacation, brought him great joy. A 55-year resident of Eden, he was a long-time member of the Immaculate Conception Church and devoted Buffalo Bills fan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Guiseppe and Maria (Stefanacci) Ermi; father- and mother-in-law, Frederick (Pipe) and Jean (Hedges) Davis; brothers, Emilio “Lanky” Ermi and Edward Ermi; and sisters, Jean Oliveri and Sylvia Narde. He is survived by his wife, Fay (Davis) Ermi; four sons, Mark (Marianne) Ermi, Todd (Lori) Ermi, Jeffrey Ermi, and Brett (Kim) Ermi; nine grandchildren, Lexie Howe, Meghan Ermi, Shaun Ermi, Jay Ermi, Jackson Ermi, Anthony Ermi, Joey Ermi, Kate Ermi, and Justin Ermi; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family members. A memorial service will take place in Eden, NY, at a date to be determined later. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Eden Athletic Association (In Memoriam Joseph Ermi; P.O.
