I knew Phil from being in 4H back in the 90's. I was part of Lawtons Progressors 4H Club a few towns over. If memory serves me right, I think we might have been on Teen Council together as well. Seeing his obituary in the paper saddens me. Way too young.... I express my deepest sympathies to the Charette family. May his light continue to shine bright in your hearts.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Charette and family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Phil's passing. I have the fondest and most incredibly fun memories of Phil from Fox Valley. He was a true leader and a bright light that everyone loved and admired. Although he moved away... we remained friends throughout the years. He will be sorely missed.
Sincerely,
Lisa Alessi

You were such a ball of energy, lightened every room you walked into. So many fond memories I have with you in it. I'm so glad we became good friends many years ago. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Until we meet again. Love you.

My life changed when I met a guy from Eden at Alfred in 1995. Your smile was infectious and lit up every room you set foot in. I will never forget our countless adventures together and will forever be grateful to have you as part of our wedding party years ago. Although we lost touch a few years back, I am blessed that we reconnected a short time ago. To my ray of sunshine, life will never be the same but you will never, ever be forgotten.

Phil lived across the hall from me during my time at Alfred State. Much like Seinfeld had Kramer, Brian and I had Phil and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Always full of so much life and spirit. Phil shined his light on everyone and everything he touched.

Phil was the greatest General Manager at the Birchwood Inn! He always went above and beyond no matter what it was, and always made me laugh, even when things were crazy! I will miss you, there will never be another one like you!!!!

May God's peace be on your family during this very difficult time. I worked with Phil at Lord Baltimore. He was always such an upbeat and energetic person who made us laugh to keep things light. He was also my friend outside of work. I am sorry I didn't get to visit him in St. Pete due to the pandemic this year (I moved back to FL in late 2015). Know that he was loved, cherished and so very special. May God's light shine upon his face in eternity.

Rob and I were very sad to hear the news of his passing. He certainly did have the most magnetic personality and he was a perfectionist at everything he did. He will be missed by many. Deepest condolences to his family and friends. RIP Phil!

One my favorite memories with Phil is just being at home relaxing and being surprised by a sudden fire alarm blaring in the apt…I run out freaking out to Phil calmly looking at me making a wonderful meal and saying this always happens the alarms are super sensitive….now dont get me wrong here Phil is the BEST BEST COOK but he cooks like ido (rare as it is) on a high temp and it can well …smoke up the place lol
After we air out the apt ,the wonderful meal has been set out , he says so casually I made a plate for u if u want something to eat. Understand that I never expected Phil to make extra when he cooked and it was never something planned ….but he loves cooking and his generous heart is just like that so, surprised and delighted (as I don’t cook let’s face it’s me a microwave, cereal or sandwiches …done) now I have a real Dinner to enjoy, and Phil says have u ever watched “this is us”. Or “brothers and sisters”? Knowing full well that I don’t usually watch anything but sci-fi,fantasy, or Japanese animation stuff. Deciding out of those and a few other suggestions he starts from the beginning: Brothers and Sisters . So begins an irregular tradition of dinner and a show or when he was feeling less well We’d binge watch it together , chatting about what we thought about the shows plot or the next days appts. A lot of times Phil would manage to fall asleep and I’d continue watching for a few episodes to monitor breathing , get temps and then head to bed myself for the morning appts. To be able to just hang out and be comfortable and not be stressing about what where when why or how -to me was-some of the best times with Phil it was a great and calming time in an otherwise stress filled environment.
Phil: it was a tremendous honor to have known you. You have been one of the strongest and most thoughtful people I’ve ever known thank you for everything I will miss the camaraderie, the mentor, and the supreme cook that I finally ,after several years, got to know.
