Obituary of Fay Ermi
Please share a memory of Fay to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fay Ermi, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away July 5th, 2021, of natural causes in Frederick, Maryland.
Born April 21, 1941, in Buffalo, New York, she was a lifelong resident of Eden, NY, until moving to Frederick, MD in 2017. Fay was the only child of Fred and Jean Davis. She graduated from Eden Central High School in 1959 and married her husband, Joe, in 1961. With him, she raised four rambunctious boys. After the boys were all in school, she finished her nursing degree and entered the workforce, beginning a fulfilling career that lasted until her retirement. She began as a nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit and then worked many years for the Red Cross.
Anyone who met Fay immediately felt her exuberance, kindness, and love—and usually also received one of her legendary hugs! She volunteered as a clown named Angel—a name inspired by her extensive collection of angels of all forms and shapes—at county fairs for many years, using her lively talents and gregarious disposition to serve others and bring smiles to children. She loved to spend time with her family boating on Lake Erie or vacationing at the beach. She was a dedicated quilter, an avid gardener—she especially loved sunflowers—and a voracious reader.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ermi; and her parents, Frederick (Pipe) and Jean (Hedges) Davis. She is survived by four sons, Mark (Marianne) Ermi, Todd (Lori) Ermi, Jeffrey Ermi, and Brett (Kim) Ermi; nine grandchildren, Lexie Howe, Meghan Ermi, Shaun Ermi, Jay Ermi, Jackson Ermi, Anthony Ermi, Joey Ermi, Kate Ermi, and Justin Ermi; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family members.
A celebration of life for Joe and Fay Ermi will take place in Hamburg, NY, on September 4 at the Armor Inn Tap Room from 12-3.
