Obituary of David L. Allen

David L. Allen, age 80, of Lackawanna, NY, formerly of Eden, NY, died June 10, 2022 in Mercy Hospital. He was born in Olean, NY on August 19, 1941. He was a son of the late Robert M. Allen and Nancy (Catlin) Allen. He married his loving wife of 60 years, the former Sara J. Newman, on January 6, 1962 in the SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Hamburg, NY. David served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. David will be remembered for the pride he took helping plan the events every year for the Eden Alumni Association. At one time David was a member of the Brownsville Texas Country Club and the Builders Association in Brownsville, Texas. He enjoyed working with his hands and wood working. Because of his talents with wood working David started Allen Cabinet Shop in Eden, NY. He owned and operated the shop for over 20 years. David knew so many people and was able to make friends very easily. Besides his parents, David is predeceased by a brother Michael Allen. He is survived by his wife, Sara J. Allen; a daughter, Cynthia J. (Kurt Ortlinghaus) Allen; two sons, David M. (Cynthia Marks) Allen and Todd N. (Kerry) Allen; eight grandchildren, Richard, Arielle, Krista, Nick, Anthony, David, Daniel and Katie. Also survived by a brother Gary (Laree) Allen and several nieces and nephews A service will be held at a date to be determined by the family.
