Obituary of Helen Adrion
Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen (Miller)Adrion peacefully joined our Lord Saturday October 31st. Helen was 100 years old, just 5 weeks from her 101st birthday.
She was born in Buffalo, New York to the late Jacob and Louise Miller, on December 8th, 1908. She was wife to Vern George Adrion on April 16th, 1931.
Both of Helen's parents were immigrants from the Black Forest region in Germany, Helen being one of 10 siblings raised on her father's farm in West Falls, New York. Helen eventually moved to her own farms in Orchard Park and later in Eden. She was a graduate of the 8th grade. Helen and her husband raised three wonderful daughters; Linda, Donna, and Joan as well as caring for two foster children. Their farms produced livestock and vegetables. Helen was a homemaker for her family, her extended family and friends, and anyone who was in need. She worked as a custodian for the Eden High School from 1966 to 1976. Helen was an accomplished baker and cook, her pies and beans were sufficient payment for neighboring farmers who helped her through rural life without a husband or sons.
Helen was known for her seemingly unending patience and goodness in all ways as well as her love of all animals except snakes. As a Mother and a Grandmother, Helen will always be remembered as the most kind, gentle, committed, and loving person we have had in our lives. She has always been pure goodness to all. Her concern for the good of all was best demonstrated by how much she was affected by watching the nightly news, anything wrong anywhere in the world weighed heavily on her, sometimes for days. Helen is not known to ever have had an enemy, she avoided conflict at almost any cost only having friends and family who completely adored her. In her final years as her health deteriorated, she was blessed by the support of her daughters and a team of the most kind and loving aids and neighbors who continually gave of themselves for her.
Helen is survived by her daughters Linda C. Adrion-Lemke; Donna M. Eagan; Grandchildren Gregg K. (Sheila) Eagan, Sharon L. Eagan, Darryl (Adrienne) Eagan, and Tom Turnbull; and Great Grandchildren Dwight, Adele, Chase, Lincoln, Aubrey, Colin, and Kelsey Eagan. She is predeceased by her husband Vern Adrion (1979); Daughter Joan (Melvin) Turnbull (2009); brothers Jake Miller, Adolph Miller, Albert Miller, Harold Miller, and sisters Louise Miller, Bertha LePrell, Flora Urban, Hilda LePrell and Viola Brown.
A memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 11:00AM in the Laing Funeral Home Inc 2724 W. Church Street Eden, New York 14057
