I learned pre-college calculus from Mr Georger during the late 60's. Turns out, he was a far better instructor than any advanced math instructor I encountered in either undergrad or graduate schools. His lessons stuck with me through aerospace engineering school, working on the aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics of the Space Shuttle and other advanced reentry vehicles, and later into management to retirement. I can still picture him at the head of the class patiently trying to teach us numbskulls valuable skills. He was an outstanding teacher and person. Even took our class on my first river adventure, leading me later to enjoy whitewater rafting and kayaking in the mountains of NC and north central TN. We've lost a quiet giant.

Dear Lucyanne and family,
We were so sorry to hear about Arlon's passing. He was such a dear man. I knew him through all my teaching days
in the the Eden High School. The students there really respected him as a wonderful math teacher and coach, and the faculty was
very grateful to him for his efforts in our Teacher's Union. We were happy to see him enjoy his family, church, travels and golf in retirement too. His was a life well lived and a model for us all. We were sorry to not be at the funeral due to our own family emergency. God bless the Georger family in the future.
With love,
Merry Jeffers and Michael Kankiewicz

I was very sad when I heard the news of Mr. Georger's passing. Ages ago when I was a freshman in high school, Mr. Georger persuaded the school to purchase a Heathkit computer and hire someone to solder all of the pieces together. It was on that ancient machine I learned, under Mr. Georger's tutelage, how to program a computer. Some 49 years later I still make my living as a computer programmer. I can't thank you enough Mr. Georger for all your support and taking me under your wing so many years ago.

Arlon was very kind to me when I came to Eden as a new teacher fresh out of university in 1989. He made me feel welcome the first moment I met him. He was a good hearted soul and a brilliant math teacher. He will be missed.

Mr. Georger was one of my biggest influences in becoming a teacher. His kindness and enthusiasm for all things math set me on a path for a love of teaching that carried me through my career. His enthusiasm for the onset of Computer education inspired me to teach Computer Science. Many years later I had the joy and privilege of working with him when I had student teachers. I am sure he is in a better place now, and finding that the “aftermath” is not so bad.

Such a nice man. Great teacher and neighbor. I spent many evenings babysitting his children. He and his wife the kindest people ever. RIP Mr. George. Heartfelt sympathy to the family. I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Mr. Georger was a superb influence in all the good that a teacher can do. He was kind, caring and had a wry sense of humor that would even poke at himself! He was one of the best teachers I think I ever had, and definitely inspired me to become an educator, in a little different fashion. The world lost a kind and generous soul. RIP, Mr. Georger, we will miss you very much.

Mr. Georger was one of the best teachers I had in high school...
In the years after school we kept in touch through our class' newsletters...
He made a difference for my having math comprehension back in the days before we knew much about dyslexia...
He was proud of his family...a golden rule person...
May you walk in the sunshine of memories of him...

I never knew Arlon, but heard he was an Eden math teacher.
However, I know his wife, Christine, through our contact with each other in church. She is such a loving and caring person. She enjoys telling stories and makes me laugh. I assume she must have made Arlon laugh also. May he rest in peace. You both were blessed by a marriage made in Heaven.
All your trials while on earth Arlon were not in vain. Now you can rest peacefully in the arms of the angels.

Mr Georger began his teaching career with our class. He was a natural and I was one of the original members of the 100 Club on Regents Exams. Took class from him every year through calculus when I graduated from Eden in 1963. A very special teacher and person. Still have a $1.00 bill he signed on the first perfect Regents score. Very fond memories.
