Obituary of Christine L. Rychlik

Chris Rychlik Anthony and Francis Ludera became the proud parents of Christine Louise Ludera on November 11, 1948 in Springville NY. Her childhood home in Eden is where she played, learned and farmed with her brother James (Jim) Ludera and her sister Lorraine (Lorrie) Szematowicz. Siblings they were, but friends they became as my mom and Lorrie became successful doubles tennis partners. The partnership may have been short lived, but a single first place trophy is something to be proud of. Now, my mom and Jim. Well, their friendship was based on a common love for torturing their sister. The memories of this threesomes adventures together are both endless and hysterical. If you ever have time alone with Lorrie and Jim you should ask them for a few stories and you too will wonder how they were able to survive this long. My mom started working at an early age with Jack Smith Insurance in the Village of Eden where she rode her bicycle to work and back. Combining Tennis and these lengthy bike rides was instrumental in creating her signature lean sexy legs. These legs are legendary as I heard from my father (Dan). As you can probably image those legs along with the help of ridiculously short mini shirts in the late 60 ‘s is what grabbed the attention of Dan Rychlik. A relatively short dating history lead to them getting married on April 25, 1970. In 52 (almost 53) years of marriage they have shared so very many things. To start their lives together they bought a dairy farm in Lawtons, New York where they created strong lasting friendships with their neighbors (Eddie & Nancy Gabel, Norb and Rita Gabel, Dave & Diane Gamel, Lynn & Bub Gabel and so many more) and they continue to live there to this day. Although, the dairy farm has been gone for many years mom’s love for ALL animals continued on. The countless bird feeders would keep her busy year round making sure all were “bulked” for the winter and they had plenty of fresh food in the summer. Mom loved her farm land and keeping a well groomed lawn. As we all know the county workers were NOT allowed to damage her lawn in front of the house and she would make certain to inform them of such every year so much so I think the county just gave up after a while. My mom worked many years for Delocon Kitchens and More in Springville NY where she was their office manager and could utilize her amazing organizational skills. In her spare time she and my dad would go line dancing where they met so many new people and there too created many long lasting friendships. Her love of music did not end there she became a Band groupie for her husband. As Dad played bass guitar in a band she would follow along and be his biggest supporter. She Loved music from early on as a young girl with a great record collection and that then changed to a CD collection as a grown woman. If any one new my mom well at all you knew if you came over you were getting fed regardless if were hungry or not. She had a minimum of 5 dishes listed for every occasion which usually turned into 10 and if there is one thing you left their house with it was a very FULL belly. Saying she loved to cook is an understatement. She was always searching for a new recipe or a way to improve on one which was already delicious. All our family doctors remember the one Son-in-laws day (yes she created a holiday) where she made a bacon themed menu, but it was BYOD (bring your own defibrillator). Out of all my mom’s accomplishments I believe being the best mother and wife is at the very top of the list. As our (Jennifer and Jackie) mother she did everything she could to make us the best possible people. Using all of her best qualities she taught us about hard work, organization, cooking, artistry, the love for animals and so much more. All she wanted to was for us to be happy and in turn it made her happy. She would often comment about how much she loved our husbands (Jason and Kevin) and knowing how happy they make us. Before she would hang up a phone she would always say “give that guy a hug for me”. This made her happy. Being a wife is hard work but she was damn good at it! She had it mastered! For almost 53 years she took amazing care of my father. This amazing woman was always friendly, always smiling and is one of the best people I and everyone who encountered her has had the pleasure of knowing. We (I) will miss you terribly…. Rest in Heaven Momma Visitation will be held Wednesday 4-8PM at the Laing Funeral Home Inc., 2724 W. Church St. Eden followed by a Mass held on Thursday at 10:00AM in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Langford. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Ten Lives Club.
