Obituary of Marilyn M. Anderson
Marilyn Mae Anderson, April 13, 1942 - April 8, 2024
Marilyn Mae Anderson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was welcomed into the presence of her Savior on April 8, 2024 in the Fox Run Skilled Nursing facility, Orchard Park New York.
Born April 13,1942 to Theadore and Margaret Anderson in Frewsburg New York, Marilyn was the eldest of her four siblings: Paul, Burt, Janice and Jerry Anderson.
In 1960, while working at a small motel in Frewsburg, a young man made a delivery. That afternoon, Marilyn went home and told her mom that she was going to marry the bread boy. Wayne Anderson and Marilyn were married on July 28,1962 - a remarkable 62 years of marriage. They had two children, Wayne and Leslie (Cahill).
Marilyn began her teaching career in Pennington New Jersey as a special education teacher, then kindergarten. She joined the staff at West Seneca Christian School in West Seneca New York in 1980 as a fifth-grade teacher. Upon continuing her education in mathematics, she finished her career as a math and computer programming teacher.
After retiring, she focused her energy on her faith, family, church, volunteering with Wayne at International Students Inc.,caring for her grandchildren and spending days with family and friends at the house on Chautauqua Lake.
With the progression of Alzheimer’s, she never lost her enjoyment for walking, reading, praying, doing puzzles, playing with her grandchildren and remaining active in any way she could.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jerry and Paul, and her son Wayne. She is survived by her devoted husband Wayne, her brother Burt (Kathy), her sister Janice, her daughter Leslie (Rob), her grandchildren Robert (Megan), William, Jordan, Dabney, her nieces and nephews Mark, Beth, Mike, Melissa, her great grandchildren Blake, Hayden and her great nieces and nephews Nathan, Noah, Maggie, Joey, Riley, Kaden, Arella, Caleb and Abbey.
Marilyn was a humble servant of the Lord, willing to help anybody in any way she could. No task was too menial for her. We are assured she is celebrating her homecoming with Jesus and loved ones in heaven. We will surely miss her.
Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, April 15, at 1:00 pm at the Laing Funeral Home Inc., 2724 W. Church St, Eden, NY. 14057, followed by a time of fellowship at the First Baptist Church of Eden, 2809 E Church St, Eden, NY.
