Obituary of Richard Allen Sendor
Richard Allen Sendor
Richard (Rick) Sendor passed away on October 1st, 2024. He was born at Our Lady of Victory Hospital
on July 4 th , 1954. He is the son of the late Michael John and the late Frances Eleanor Sendor. His first
four years of life the family, Mom, Dad and brother Michael (late Sandra) lived in an apartment above
his mother’s parents Blasdell, NY. In December of 1958 the family moved to Eden, NY where Rick would
remain a resident until his passing.
Rick graduated from Eden Central School in 1972 and went on to get an Associates Degree from Bryant
and Stratton College in 1974.
Rick married his high school sweetheart Melinda Smith in 1976 and had two children, Aaron and Katie.
He also has 2 granddaughters Miranda and Serena along with 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived
by his niece Tracy Sendor Woodrow her husband TR, great-nephew Colin and great-niece Caitlin.
Melinda passed away in 2004 from Breast Cancer, Rick was never the same.
From an early age Rick was fascinated with cars, motorcycles and snow mobiles. He would often attend
stock car and drag races with his father at local tracks and drag strips. Rick currently has a collection of
11 cars, 2 motorcycles and 5 snowmobiles. Growing up in Eden the family had a Go Cart which Rick
loved to drive. There was a makeshift track in their back yard which served as his playground (driving
the neighbors crazy).
Rick was a kind and gentle soul. He has many friends from all walks of life. Most of his working life was
spent at Duriron Industries in Angola. When The plant closed Rick was literally the last man standing.
Many of his closest friends were made there and he was close to them even now. One of those friends
Craig Rauker introduced Rick to his sister Shelley just two years ago. These past two years where the
happiest Rick had been since Melinda’s passing. Rick and Shelley were constantly on the go riding his
Harley Davidson or going for car rides touring the Southern Tier and stopping for lunch and / dinner at
one of their favorite spots.
Rick was an extremely clean and neat person. He took great pride in maintaining everything he owned.
His vehicles both inside and outside were always spotless.
Every year Aaron and all the grandkids would spend a weekend camping out in Rick’s yard. He loved
having them all with him those times and cherished the strong relationship he had with them all. Rick’s
gentle ways and ever-present smile were known to all who met him, he will be missed.
