I (Alisha) will never forget all the nights I spent at the house on Risley with your wonderful, beautiful, caring daughter Lindsay. We would wake up after a late night of girl talk and go down to the green house where you were with your brother sitting at the big table( I was so little it might have been small :).Then Linds and I would eat the mint leaves from the garden, they were the best! You were such an amazing person and you've touched my life in a very special way. I wish I could be home to be there for your daughter and Patty on the toughest day to come, but always know that I will be there in spirit. Rest in peace, you will never be forgotten.

As I sit here and look at Joe's picture, it's hard to believe he is gone. He was someone you thought would live forever. And if this world was filled with Joe's it would certainly be a better place. I've have some of the best times in my life spending time ,laughing, having a beer or two, talking about flowers, plants and just enjoying life. I will always remember his goofy little laugh which always made my heart smile. Joe, thank you for making this world a better place and all the happiness you brought into my life. I love you and will miss you. Jody

Joe was the nicest gentleman i ever had the opportunity to meet. Him and my dad Art Kinney were very close friends and enjoyed spending time together at the Beaver Club and American Legion, playing tickets and having a beer or 2....After my dad passed away and i would run into Joe at the club, he always told me how much he missed my dad, and always told his wife..."hey, thats Art Kinney's daughter"...that made everyone laugh and we would just hug a moment and wipe a tear from our eye's....he was a good man and will be missed terribly....God Bless to his family....

I sit here regreting not being in Fredonia preparing to say good bye to my great uncle Joe. A great man who has given me so many great memories living next door to him growing up. I remember the many mornings going out to the greenhouses and just listening to Joe, Lou, and the Greenhouse cronies carrying on about anything and drinking coffee....sometimes with "cough syrup". I will always remember sitting and talking with Joe in the cement block building in late afternoon because it was to hot in the greenhouse in the summer. There are so many more great memories but I will end with one last thought that makes me smile even through this great loss. I have no doubt that Joe, Lou, and all their buddies are sitting in heaven now having a grand ole time! Pat and Lindsey, I am so sorry that we could not be there but my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was crushed when my dad told me that Joe passed away last week. I truly regret that I could not be there to pay my last respects. I first met Joe in the mid 60’s. My dad delivered flowers for the Guginos and I would occasionally ride along with him in the big green GMC truck they had as he delivered to Loblaw’s Supermarkets and Agway Stores in Westfield, Erie, Northeast, Edinboro, Corry, Warren, and a host of other locations. When I turned 12 I started working for Joe, his brother Louie, and their dad John (aka “the old man) at their greenhouse after school for $1.60 an hour. I continued working for them throughout high school and college. The geranium will always be my favorite flower. I have many fond memories from my days at the greenhouse. I learned to drive a tractor, car, and standard truck...remember the old truck with chopped cab and the pedal starter. I hit my head more than once on the pipes and troughs between the greenhouses, stepped on a few nails, and broke a few panes of glass. But I learned an awful lot from Joe and his brother Louie. I learned the nature of hard work and an appreciation for well earned dollar. When minimum wage went up to $3.35 an hour, Joe was quick to point out that every minute we spent taking a break cost him 5.5 cents per minute. I learned about responsibility and developed quite a work ethic. I even learned a few choice words (maybe that helped me excel as a Marine)...but overall they helped mold me into the man I am today. For that I will always be grateful. There are hundreds of other young men who grew up in Fredonia and shared similar experiences. I am forever indebted to Joe and the Gugino family. God Bless him and may he rest in peace. With all “Sincerity and “Yours Truly – Joe Granata - Semper Fi Joe
